Liverpool travel to White Hart Lane to play Tottenham in the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp’s men look to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Burnley.

Liverpool have had their way with Tottenham the past few years but they’ll have a tough task traveling to London to play Spurs this weekend after a tumultuous week of two matches, one profoundly lackluster 2-0 loss to Burnley in the league followed by a 5-0 bullying of Burton in the second round of the League Cup by the midweek.

That school yard thumping of the Championship side was filled with regular first team members though it came with a price: Emre Can limped off with an ankle issue. It’s unclear if he’ll play, though it’s not looking good.

Behind Can’s injury doubt, Philippe Coutinho’s availability is up in the air due to a hamstring injury that kept him out of the team midweek. The good news is that Joel Matip got a start and proved his fitness against Burton as did Sadio Mane.

Against a similarly high pressing Tottenham side, with more cohesion, this may well be the match of the weekend. As usual for Liverpool, 0-0 would be a shocking scoreline and Tottenham are of similar ilk.

Liverpool predicted XI, 4-2-3-1 as per usual.

GK Simon Mignolet

As usual, the opposition had two shots on target and two goals last week. With Mignolet in net, Burnley needed not much more than two threatening attacks to grab a 2-0 lead.

To be fair, it’d be harsh to give the keeper stick for the goals, though it’s accumulation: how many times does a small number of shots find their way past a flailing Mignolet? Against Burnley, he seemed to misconstrue the six yard box for the goal line. He was in no man’s land for the goals, not really cutting down any angle while cutting down his reaction time.

Happy healing, Loris Karius.
