RB Nathaniel Clyne

For all of the scenarios around this team and game that’s a bit wonky in the grand scheme of things, Clyne starting at right back is not one of them.

It’s very on brand, too. Clyne starting exactly where you’d expect him to do performing exactly how you’d expect him too. He’s a staid presence in a Liverpool team that thrives on calamity.

Clyne started a half century of games in his first season at the club, then this summer Klopp doubled down by allowing Jon Flanagan to leave on loan and selling Brad Smith. The only way Clyne isn’t in the team is an injury, simple as.
