How does Daniel Sturridge fit into the Liverpool attack?
Daniel Sturridge Role
Liverpool’s attack looks utterly terrifying with Firmino in the middle, and the absolutely rapid tandem of Mané and Salah flanking him.
The weak link in the trio might be the newly acquired Egyptian winger. He occasionally struggled to say onside and missed a few scoring opportunities in yesterday’s game.
However, his ability to escape Arsenal’s defense and score Liverpool’s third goal of the day was sublime. His cross into Sturridge for the team’s fourth and final goal was also perfectly sent to the far post.
And judging from the response on Twitter, he was the choice of many fans for man of the match.
My article last week looked at one of Liverpool’s weaker positions, and asked how or if the team will find an answer at left back this season. This conversation regarding their front three is quite the contrary.
As long as they stay healthy, there is almost nothing to worry about when it comes to Liverpool’s attacking options.
They have a front three that is already clicking as though they’ve been playing together for years. They have a striker on their bench who can definitely score 20 goals when healthy. And there’s a certain Brazilian midfielder who can pick up the slack if other attacking options go down with an injury.
It looks as though the Anfield faithful may frequently see four or five goals scored by the home team this season. If all goes according to plan, each member of our starting attack force could very well score more than 15 goals each this campaign.

Daniel Sturridge may never regain the form that saw him score 22 alongside Luis Suarez. But he could find himself netting double digits for the first time since that fateful season if he continues to get opportunities to make an impact off the bench, as he did yesterday.
