Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

5. Dealt with the physical side well and kept good shape down the right hand side. Could have done better to prevent the cross for the opening goal. Silly yellow for tugging the shirt when there was plenty of cover behind him. Then another needless yellow to get a red. He will be suspended for the next game away to Spartak Moscow.. Right Back. Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ

Liverpool. JOEL MATIP. 5. A quiet and well played game ruined by Sevilla’s equalizer. The gap between Matip and Lovren far too wide. Then a measure of uncertainty set in with a few more errors before the 90 minutes were up. His form is officially a worry for Kopites. He has had 3 or 4 bad games already this year.. Center Back

4. Gah. This guy. Who knows what he was thinking about as he goes to ground to try and clear the cross for the first goal. He was not the only one at fault for the goal but once again a Lovren error is at the center of us conceding.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN

7. Should have been goal side for Sevilla’s opener but made amends in the first half with a fantastic attacking display. A sweet one-two with Henderson put Moreno through to put it on a plate for Firmino to score. He then was instrumental in setting up the penalty chance. If only he could really defend.. Left Back. Liverpool. ALBERTO MORENO
