It’s all Klopp’s fault! FSG are too stingy! Klavan is awful! Liverpool fans react to the 1-1 draw with Burnley in the Premier League.

After another disappointing draw Liverpool fans are looking to lay blame. Three bad results this week have sapped the fanbase of the season’s early excitement. The win against Arsenal seems a long time ago.

Unusually most of the blame for this result is being given to the Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. A Premier League team sheet that includes Ragnar Klavan in defense and James Milner in midfield is alway likely to elicit complaint. Yet the manager did not help himself by waiting until the 78th minute to make a substitution.

Then we the changes did come it was Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho who came off. Dominic Solanke was heavily involved in the search for the winner but the other substitute, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, was largely anonymous.

There is a growing feeling that Oxlade-Chamberlain represents the worst part of the last transfer window. Expensive, not good enough and not needed. He should be given far more time before real judgements are made but almost every Red would rather have spent that £35 million on a center back.

The issue of the failure to sign Virgil Van Dijk is a continuing point of contention for Kopites. Many point to the failure of FSG to get the deal done. The original leaking of information is also blamed on the owners. Yet it was Klopp who said ‘VVD or nothing’.

Inevitably Klavan and Milner received most of the stick given to the players against Burnley. There was no Jordan Henderson for the boo boys to blame, so Milner is a conveniently available scapegoat to shift to.
