After a stunning brace from Mo Salah against Leicester, Liverpool earned their first comeback win of the season. The Egyptian goal machine behind the glory yet again had Kopites gushing over him.
The signing of the season, Mohamed Salah has continued to live up to his name. Following Liverpool’s latest Premier League win, the Number 11 has secured his 23rd goal of his debut campaign. 17 goals in 17 games, truly outstanding figures.
Every time he scores, my love for Mo Salah intensifies. But it’s not just the sensational goals he keeps racking up, it’s much more than that.
On the pitch, he’s passionate and a class act. Off the pitch he’s exactly the same. Following the brutal mosque attack in Northern Sinai, Egypt last month, Salah paid his respects after he scored against Chelsea.
The Egyptian became a hero of his country after sealing their place in the 2018 World Cup and is now even more appreciated after his ‘no celebration’ goal tribute to the 305 victims who were killed in November.
Translation: My sincere condolences to the Egyptian people and all the families of the martyrs of El Arish mosque.
A perfect pair
Salah reminds me of another Philippe Coutinho – who I’m also head over heels for. Both fun-sized magic makers have the gentlest nature on the pitch and teamed up with their fiery goal getting, it’s an amazing combination.
The two are rarely ever rough and tumble and never make a scene when they’re fouled. Which is often. Keeping to clean, honest play is such a rarity in today’s football that Coutinho and Salah deserve recognition for their lack of diving, tantrums and drama on the pitch.
The winger has received just the one booking so far. Despite it being still early in the season, Alvaro Morata – who was in competition with Salah as best summer transfer – has earned four yellow cards and has 13 less goals.
The Egypt-Brazil brotherhood is a thing of beauty. I love seeing these two in action together, especially how hard Coutinho celebrates whenever Salah finds the back of the net.
Premier League king
There’s absolutely no competition to who has absolutely bossed the Premier League in their debut. Morata and Alexandre Lacazette have faded into the background compared to Liverpool’s lethal weapon.

Salah is even outshining the most prolific goal scorers – Sergio Aguero simply can’t keep up and Harry Kane has a battle on his hands for the Golden Boot. Don’t even talk to me about where Romelu Lukaku stands in comparison. With Mo thrown into the mix of an already dangerous front three, the Reds are serious contenders for having the best attack in the world. Happy New Year, Reds, here’s to a 2018 filled with goals and glory!
