Right Back: Joe Gomez

I think you write this one in pen. While Jurgen Klopp has been regularly rotating this position all season there is a clear favoring to Joe Gomez in the big games.

Trent Alexander-Arnold offers more pace and width at the position. He also gives a better option on the counter attack. Yet Klopp will be very aware of the threat coming from Man City and will go with his best defender for this role.

In the game against City earlier in the season TAA struggled as Kevin de Bruyne drifted over to the Liverpool right and bullied the youngster. It was a tough day for the defender but he has learned his lesson. Klopp has learned too and has chosen Gomez for almost every game against a rival.

Gomez will matchup with Leroy Sane and has enough pace to keep up with the German. If there has been one criticism of Gomez this season is that thee have been occasions where he has fallen asleep at the back post. Recent games against Arsenal and Burnley are the examples.

There is no way he can do that on Sunday. City are simply too dangerous. The England international will have to be at his best.
