Liverpool Player Ratings: Forwards

Forced Southampton on to the back foot with his work rate and hustle. Was rewarded early with an assist after he drove into the Southampton box to square it back for Firmino. Gave the Reds the much needed second goal with a beautiful left foot finish after Firmino’s elegant assist.. Right Forward. Liverpool. MOHAMED SALAH. 9

Liverpool. ROBERTO FIRMINO. 9. Got his 20th goal of the season after 5 minutes after slamming home Salah’s cut back. Had a weird moment at the corner flag when he was trying to keep it in but slammed it straight out. could have had a penalty for a pull but <a href=. Center Forward

6. Last season’s Sadio Mane was defined by brilliant decision making and clinical finishing. He has regressed in both areas this year. That has taken him from a deadly assassin to a decent Premier League forward. The combo of Salah and Firmino thriving has reduced the impact of that regression but he needs to find his form and confidence if Liverpool are to progress in the Champions League.. Left Forward. Liverpool. SADIO MANE

Substitutes

James Milner – 7

Brought on for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to help solidify the midfield and bring some veteran nous to close out the game.

Adam Lallana – 6

Fresh from trying to bully a teenager in midweek Lallana cane on for 15 minutes to give Firmino a rest ahead of the Porto game. Should have scored in the 85th minute but his left foot finished brushed past the post.

Dejan Lovren – n/a

Came on for Mohamed Salah with a minute of regulation time left. Allowed the traveling Kop to sing the Mo Salah song at the top of their lungs one last time.
