Liverpool loanees Harry Wison and Marko Grujic made the Championship Team of the Week the weekend. Both players are shining in the second tier.

The plan was to give them minutes and valuable experience. However Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic are doing more than just clocking up time on the pitch. The two Liverpool on-loan players are leading the charge at their respective clubs.

Both players made the WhoScored.com Championship Team of the Week which was released today. Wilson won Player of the Week with a grade of 9.4 after scoring the wining goal in Hull City’s 4-3 win over Norwich City.

That win takes them to 18th place and out of the deepest mire of the relegation battle. Wilson was not just credited for his goal but also racked up an assist, four shots, four key passes, four dribbles, two tackles and an interception in an all-round impressive display from midfield.

At the other end of the table Marko Grujic helped Cardiff to a 3-2 win over Birmingham to maintain second place and keep the pressure on Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Championship title. Once again playing in a deeper midfield role he bossed the middle of the park; winning eight aerial duels and five tackles. His score of 8.4 was enough to make the Team of the Week

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with the progress of these two players who could well find increased opportunity at Anfield next season.

The Reds only have one first team player in Emre Can who can hold down the defensive midfield role and he is likely leaving in the summer. While we would expect Klopp to bring a replacement from the transfer market Grujic may get the opportunity in pre-season after his impressive displays for Cardiff in the role.

One concern most Liverpool fans have about the current squad is sufficient cover for the forward trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Harry Wilson is as good as any of the current replacements at the club. He is also flexible enough to play in all three positions.

If he continues this form then he could well find himself involved with the first team next year, even as cover or a bit-part cup player.
