An Everton fan has been destroyed for a mindless Liverpool tweet on Sunday night.

After the Reds lost 2-1 away to Manchester United, the Toffee launched into an ill-advised tirade on the social media platform.

In the post, the user noted the amount of money spent at Anfield over the past few years and how little perceived success has come with that. But those living in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

This was swiftly pointed out as the response was swift and vicious and pointed out the several unfortunate comparisons between the stick they were using to beat Liverpool with and the situation at Goodison Park.

More from Rush The Kop

After spending £182 million during the summer and winter to bring in a number of high profile players, Everton have already sacked one manager and are in the middle of a poor run of form.

Those big arrivals haven’t brought the type of performances that were expected of them when they first joined the side. £25.65 million defender Michael Keane has disappointed, and could be sold in the summer after just one season at the club – said the Liverpool Echo.

£24.30 million Dutch attacker Davy Klaassen has had an even rougher time of things. The 25-year-old has played just five Premier League games and has failed to score or assist in any of them.

£44.46 million signing Gylfi Sigurdsson hasn’t been able to hit his Swansea City heights while £5 million striker Sandro Ramirez has already left for Sevilla on loan.

Despite being ninth in the table, Sam Allardyce’s team are just six points away from Huddersfield Town in 15th and could easily slip further down the table if things don’t go their way.

So much for teams who spend big and then underperform. Perhaps fans should look at their own situation before slinging mud at their rivals – no matter how tempting it may be.
