Wolves tilt gives Klopp opportunity to tinker with lineup following international duty

Liverpool will have one of the earliest kickoffs in the return to Premier League action. That means players like Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez who just returned on Wednesday might not get a start. This could be an opportunity for Jurgen Klopp to field a new look lineup.

Players like Stefan Bajcetic and Ibrahima Konate are both trending up in their recoveries from injury and could play a part against Wolves.

While Wolves do pose some problems in their best XI, this should be a match that Liverpool expects to come away with the maximum three points.

That could mean we see Curtis Jones getting a start as he looks to recapture his fine form from the spring and summer. This is a match that would allow him the freedom to get forward from the heart of the park as he began doing late last season.

Ryan Gravenberch will want to be part of the lineup on Saturday after he has now had multiple weeks to settle into the club.

However, it might be more prudent to bring him off the bench as a start in a possible disjointed Liverpool lineup might not be the most comfortable introduction to life as a Red.

A prime example of this would be Wataru Endo making his debut off the bench against Bournemouth following a Mac Allister red card. He started against Newcastle in another 10-man situation.

Both matches did not allow the Japan Captain to truly show his value to the club going forward. A look at his commanding performance in his country’s 4-1 win over Germany proves that in the right situation, he can be a very good player.

So I would preach patience with Gravenberch as eager as we are to see him get a chance.

Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo could be the preferred duo to join Mohamed Salah up front after both scored multiple goals for their respective nations over the break.

It would be a return to his roots for Jota as he made more appearances for Wolves than he has so far in his Liverpool career. That attacking trio should still be enough to get the job done in a possible makeshift lineup for Klopp.

Trent Alexander-Arnold might also miss out as he battles a hamstring injury. As a result this could see the likes of Joe Gomez deployed out wide. But perhaps we should see Connor Bradley instead?

Following a strong loan spell a season ago, we have not seen Bradley since his strong preseason. This could be the perfect time to give him a proper run out in a match the club should be in control of.

However Klopp decides to set his lineup, there should be more than enough talent on the field to take care of Wolves. The club will be eager to continue to their strong start to the season and hit the ground running after a long international break.
