Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

7. A surprise inclusion after Klopp indicated he would miss out with a knock. Had little to do defensively and kept the lively Richarlison in check with ease. Showed off his crossing in the second half with a whipped in ball that Firmino couldn’t quite get a decent head on.. Right Back. Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ

7. Swapped in for Dejan Lovren and had an easy game. He is really handy to have when we get an early goal and we have time at the back to control the game. Misses a ruthless streak to his defending but that wasn’t needed today against an impotent Watford attack.. Center Back. Liverpool. JOEL MATIP

Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 8. A training session for the Dutchman. Troy Deeney has given hell to many a decent Premier League center back but van Dijk pocketed the little man. Sprayed some passes around on occasion but kept it simple for most of the game which was all it needed.. Center Back

The Scottish Roberto Carlos keeps finding new heights for his young Liverpool career. Another outstanding performance from the left back epitomized by a big first half tackle in the box and a perfect (actually perfect) cross for Salah’s second goal.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 9
