Liverpool transfer target Thomas Lemar is desperate for a summer move after AS Monaco blocked a January transfer.
There was a bunch of noise regarding Lemar’s future towards the end of the 2017 summer transfer window that remerged in January following the departure of Philippe Coutinho.
And now the Liverpool Echo has run a story that claims the Frenchman was sad that the proposed move fell through.
It’s a deal that is unlikely to happen this summer either, wrote the newspaper, because manager Jurgen Klopp is happy with his squad at the moment.

Which leaves 22-year-old Lemar as one sad pup. The attacker has spoken clearly about his desire to move away from Ligue 1 and join a top flight club, and claimed he regretted not being able to move away from Monaco earlier.
“Regrets? Maybe. I’m not going to hide it, I was a little disappointed,” he was reported as saying. “Once it’s over, it’s over, so I try not to think about it.
“I’ve kept working so that these clubs come back during the next transfer window.”

The eight-capped France international is engineering a move via the press and that’s not something you’d ever want to see from a Liverpool player. It hurts when one of your own behave like that, especially during a season, so perhaps its for the best that Klopp doesn’t want to bring Lemar to Anfield any more.
Performance wise, the starlet hasn’t been at his best this season either. With just two goals and eight assists, Lemar’s contributions at the pointy end of the pitch have been well below the levels set the previous campaign, in which he hit the back of the net nine times.
Who knows if his flirtation with other clubs has turned the player’s head, but Lemar’s performances are down and that’s never the best way to earn a big-money move.

If he moves this summer it will be to a club who values his speed and dribbling but also his ability to make things happen. Judging on his current stats, that has diminished. Just get your head down, Thomas, and force clubs to come to you.
