Liverpool blazed to a 3-0 win over Man City at Anfield in the Champions League quarter final first leg. Here are the Liverpool player ratings.

European nights at Anfield are famous the world over and this is why. Liverpool blitzed Man City in the first half to take a huge 3-0 lead to the Etihad next week for the second leg. The noise and atmosphere were more intense than any since 2005. And we all know what happened in that season’s Champions League!

Jurgen Klopp made just two changes to the side that beat Crystal Palace on Saturday. Dejan Lovren came in for the injured Joel Matip at center back and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got the nod over Gini Wijnaldum in midfield. Liverpool youngster Conor Masterson made the bench for the first time with three center backs out injured.

Mohamed Salah got the team off to a flyer, picking up Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ball before finishing the move himself. Oxlade-Chamberlain sent the Kop mental with a rocket a few minutes later. Sadio Mane’s header capped off a breathless first 30 minutes.

Despite allowing City to have possession in the second half they created very little with it. A composed defensive second half gave the Reds a clean sheet which is crucial with the away goals rule in Europe. An incredible night at Anfield.
