Everyone’s laughing at Nicolás Otamendi after Liverpool star Sadio Mané ruined his life with a filthy bit of skill in the Champions League quarter final.

Mané tortured the Manchester City center-back and finally turned him inside and out with a delicious bit of flair that left him unbalanced and on the ground.

The Reds flyer has gone under the radar a bit this season following the arrival of Mohamed Salah, but he’s having another excellent campaign and scored his 16th goal of the season on Wednesday night.

When Mané is on-fire he’s such an important part of the dangerous front three and his 31st minute goal helped Liverpool to claim the vital 3-0 win in front of their own fans.

Keeping a clean sheet, especially at Anfield, it vital and it now means City can’t rely on the away goals rule to give them a boost during the return leg.

Youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold was magnificent at right-back and a large part of the credit for that blank must rest on his shoulders.

But when you’ve got attackers with the twinkle-toed ability of Mané, you’re always going to give the opposition headaches and the unfortunate Otemendi can testify to that.

The 25-year-old attempted eight dribbles and completed six, but the way he ghosted past the Argentine marker and found space in behind won’t amuse City manager Pep Guardiola – who has a terrible record against Jurgen Klopp and the Reds.

Liverpool’s next game is against Everton on Saturday, while the Citizens will have to dust themselves off as they play bitter rivals Manchester United.

Former Toffie John Stones was left on the bench for the Champions League  encounter, and if Otamendi keeps his place in the side he’ll be hoping to have a better time of it against Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Antony Martial and co.
