Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 8. Another good showing from the youngster. Defended well and kept Sane off the score sheet once again. Most encouragingly he remains a source of creativity as he is key to releasing the team quickly on the counter attack. Fabulous experience for the Scouser.. Right Back

Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN. 8. This tie is a 180 minute showreel of what Lovren can do. You still don’t feel great about him in the side but when he plays well it is a solid 8/10. Fabulous in a second half that Liverpool dominated.. Center Back

Who would have though it was Big Virg who would put us under pressure early on. Gave away the ball poorly by trying to be too clever and confident on the wing. Sterling and Jesus punished that mistake ruthlessly and the first half was horrible after that. However he didn’t let his head drop. Dominated in the air.. Center Back. Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 7

Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 8. Perhaps the most composed player on the pitch. Another quality showing from the best left back this season in Europe not named Marcelo. Sterling has had the best season of his career but he was anonymous tonight. Robertson kept him under wraps.. Left Back
