Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 8. Roma wanted to hit Trent Alexander-Arnold through Kolarov on the wing. They had as much luck as Man City at that tactic. The youngster dealt with everything in the first half. Many searching balls forward to try and release the forwards.. Right Back

DEJAN LOVREN. 6. Lovren was on it in the first minute. A big early header settled the nerves. Should have scored when he hit the bar from a corner. Did well for 70 minutes but then let it slip by not pressing up with van Dijk. Missed the header (much like he did at Spurs earlier on in the season) for Dzeko to give them hope.. Center Back. Liverpool

8. Edin Dzekwho? Virgil van Dijk wrapped up the Roma threat by marking their goal-getter out of the game. He only got a sniff when he was matched up with Lovren. Van Dijk’s solid clearance set up the second Salah goal from a Roma set piece. Nice to hear him annoyed at the final whistle with the goals conceded.. Center Back. Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK

Not quite as adventurous as he can be, mindful of the away goal. Could have scored in the second half but his shot was blocked with a diving tackle. No Roma threat down our left hand side because Robbo and Big Virg shut that down.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 8
