Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

6. The captain tried to set the tone but the rest of his team were playing at 60%. Worryingly went down in the first half after picking an ankle knock from Shaqiri. Ran it off and came out for the second half looking fine. Hopefully the news from the injury report in the next 48 hours will not mention Hendo.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JORDAN HENDERSON

Trent Alexander-Arnold got his first start for Liverpool in central midfield and was one of the brightest players in the first half. Should have scored midway through the half but couldn’t get the ball out from under him with enough force to really test Butland. Came off for Nathaniel Clyne in the second half.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 7

6. The best Liverpool player in the first half and came close to scoring with a good effort that went just wide of the left hand post. Helped shield the defense well and kept the Joe ‘Welsh Xavi’ Allen under wraps. Had Liverpool’s last chance, deep into injury time, but Milner’s cross was too high and Wijnaldum couldn’t get his head over the ball.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. GINI WIJNALDUM
