Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

JORDAN HENDERSON. 9. Did his job in the first half. Hassled and hustled and stopped the Roma midfield from getting a handle on the game. The Italians shifted formation to 424 after their second equalizer on the night. That meant Henderson and Milner were often bypassed as Roma looked for long balls over the top. Sat deep for the last 25 minutes and shut everything down.. Center Midfield. Liverpool

7. Hugely unfortunate to be the scorer of a fluke own goal that gave Roma a glimmer of light. The most willing of the midfield three to get forward and found Firmino on one occasion only for the Brazilian to force a save from Alisson.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JAMES MILNER

Center Midfield. Liverpool. GINI WIJNALDUM. 8. Never scored an away goal. Until tonight. Gini was excellent in midfield but got that precious first away goal from a corner, beating the offside to nod it in. It has been a point of humor for some and concern from others. Everyone will remember when Wijnaldum threw away that unwanted record.
