Liverpool fans want to bring in Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure on a transfer this summer after he insults Everton in an interview today.

There will be many players across Europe who will want to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side this summer. There will be even more if they win the Champions League next week. But one player is certain that he want to come to Anfield as is doing everything he can to make it happen; even slagging off Everton!

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure spoke about a touted move to Goodison Park by insulting the level the Toffees are currently at. While being interviewed by Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas the player was asked about moves to Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester United and Everton.

Here is what he has to say about the Bitter Blues:

“Everton? No, that’s not a step up for me. If I left Watford to join a club who’s not better, that would be disrespectful.”

Watford finished only eight points behind Everton in the Premier League this season and Doucoure clearly has his sights set on a bigger move; to one of the elite six sides.

Doucoure has made it clear in the past that he would most like to come to Liverpool. A transfer to Anfield would be his dream.

The Reds are in the market for another central midfielder despite the imminent arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzeig. The news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss six months with his knee injury coupled with the likely exit of Emre Can this summer opens up a place or two for a new center mid.

Doucoure has had a very consistent year for Watford and would not be a bad option. He began by playing just behind the forwards before being moved deeper in midfield under new manager Javi Garcia. While he would be a good signing for the Reds he is currently behind Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Leicester City anchor man Wilfred Ndidi on the wish list.
