Raheem Sterling

Former academy youngster and famed part of the SAS attack triangle, Raheem Sterling has coped a lot of flack over how he went about his move to Manchester City.

After announcing himself on the scene under Brendan Rodgers, and in tandem with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, Sterling found himself as a wanted commodity. The England international also found himself in a position to negotiate a much higher contract, which he attempted to do.

Former Red defender Phil Thompson hit out at the kid, calling him greedy (as per the Mirror), while newspaper like the Telegraph ran opinion pieces lambasting his desire to earn so much, so young. That interview he did with the BBC definitely didn’t help, and nobody was convinced when he claimed it wasn’t about the money.

Sterling rejected a £100,000-a-week offer, then decided to sign on with Manchester City in order to try and win trophies. Liverpool fans weren’t convinced by his motives and he remains an uber-snake to this day.
