Now that Liverpool have appeared to have concluded their incoming transfer business, brace yourself for a summer exodus.

The massive, world record fee for goalkeeper Alisson has probably meant that the Reds won’t sign any more players this window. In fact, manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that they have to sell.

Part one of that massive clearout has already begun with the sale of stopper Danny Ward to Leicester City for around £12 million. But brace yourself for plenty more deals to be announced before the transfer window closes.

There are simply too many players of senior age or approaching it that can’t be certain of their Liverpool futures, or who need a level of football that Klopp simply can’t offer them.

And you can see this with the type of news that’s being reported around the country. Strikers Danny Ings and Divock Origi look set to leave for new pastures, which will give Daniel Sturridge another bite at the Anfield cherry.

While you really can’t see Simon Mignolet sticking around to find out what life fighting for the number two goalkeeper spot is like. And neither can Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce, who tweeted that Mignolet is expected to be sold in the near future. The Belgian has been left out of the pre-season touring squad to the United States because of his World Cup involvement with Belgium, but will be moved on after he returns.

There are a number of others kicking around who would be nervously looking over their shoulders. Marko Grujic is in that US squad, but his time at Anfield is surely close to being over. Wales Online have reported that a deal is likely.

All this is healthy for the club and it shows that Liverpool’s finances are strong enough to buy before they sell. Klopp may be able to recoup a fair amount from those four players, and that’s before you consider the likes of Lazar Markovic and Ryan Kent.
