Liverpool fans are reacting to the news that Borussia Dortmund forwards Christian Pulisic may be available for transfer with the same reasoning.

It has all gone quiet on the Liverpool transfer front. At least with potential incomings. The lingering rumors about Domagoj Vida are shot down on a daily basis and everyone at the club is distancing the Reds from Nabil Fekir. Therefore a glimmer of news about Christian Pulisic to Anfield has been greeted like a revelation.

News from German paper Bild says that Christian Pulisic has rejected an offer of a new contract at Borussia Dortmund. His current deal ends in 2020 and is not prepared to sign a new deal at the Bundesliga side.

The club have responded by being willing to listen to offers for the USMNT star this summer rather than face losing him on the cheap in 12 months time or for free in 2020. They are reported to be wanting £63 million for the American playmaker.

Liverpool had earmarked £50 million to sign Nabil Fekir and so have the bulk of the money ready to spent. Factored into the equation is Jurgen Klopp’s long-term interest in the player; he was the manager who brought him to Dortmund and placed an £11 million bid for him at Liverpool  in 2016 when he was 17-years-old.

He is five years younger than Fekir and has a higher ceiling as a player. That could cause the Reds to stump up the £60+ million fee. However Liverpool fans believe there is one surefire reason that owners FSG will target the attacker: he’s American…

It is a huge fee for the dynamic attacker but that could be negated by the boost in interest from the growing American soccer market. The Reds saw first hand the depth of adoration for Pulisic when they faced Dortmund last weekend. Surely the dollar signs appeared in the eyes of John W Henry and co.?

Next. Liverpool can make £150 MILLION in player sales. dark

The transfer makes a lot of sense for Liverpool but with only two weeks left of the window any deal would have to be quick and hurdle-less.
