Lazar Markovic

It is a bit ridiculous to think that Lazar Markovic is still a Liverpool player. When Brendan Rodgers signed the Serbian winger, he was supposed to become one of the best in the world. Now he’s not even among the best on Merseyside.

A series of loan moves have failed to encourage a permanent suitor to come forward for Markovic, who spent time in Belgium with Anderlecht last season. Back in April the Mirror reported that the 24-year-old had been priced out of a deal by Liverpool, and the club need to a healthy dose of realism in relation to this deal.

In July Sky Sports said that Greek side Olympiacos and and Belgian club Standard Liege were in talks to sign Markovic, but there has been very little on any potential move since then.

The £20 million man did score a preseason goal against Borussia Dortmund, but let’s be honest here, his Liverpool career is definitely over. The club should take the hit, lower the asking price and move on from this disaster of a deal.
