No.5 – Liverpool can win ugly

Bar the opening day victory over West Ham, Liverpool have been nowhere near their best so far this season. Despite that, they sit on 4 wins out of 4. It’s often a cliché that to be champions, you have to ‘win ugly’ and not drop points even when you aren’t at your best. That is one cliché I don’t mind becoming!

Klopp’s men have definitely won ugly this season. After scrappy victories over Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion, the Reds came to the King Power hoping to improve on those performances. It’s hard to argue that they did, and the Merseyside team were probably worse in the second half at Leicester than in any other game this season.

Despite this, they are walking away with yet another 3 points and a perfect start to the Premier League season. Although the performance will have to improve for the next game, especially considering its top four rivals Tottenham away next up, the grit and resolve shown by the Reds is definitely something positive to take from the opening four games of the season.
