Five reasons Liverpool will take apart Manchester City again

No.1 – Four Straight

Football doesn’t make sense sometimes. Liverpool played West Brom three times last season and failed to beat them on every occasion. They were the worst team in the league and the Reds only managed two points and an embarrassing FA Cup defeat. I’m still not over that cup game to be honest.

But on the other hand Liverpool took apart the best team in England – and one of the best in Europe – three times in the space of three months. And none of those games were really close. Only a shaky first half display at the Etihad in the second leg of the Quarter-Final gave any indication that City were the runaway champions and not the Reds.

Man City are going to be up for this one. Really up for it. We punched them in the face three times. A fourth time would be excruciating for their pride. But that is what is going to happen. Unusually the pressure will be on the away side.

The Reds won 2-1 at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey at the end of July. They looked a level above their opponents that day. Crucially it was a stunning second half performance from two forwards who will need to rediscover form this week…
