No. 2 – Wagner Wants To Prove Himself

Last season there were a ton of articles, blogs and interviews about the relationship between Huddersfield Town manager Dave Wagner and Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss was his best man don’t you know?! Yes you already know.

There was no competition between the two sides last year. The game at Anfield was a cake-walk 3-0 victory that came in during a difficult spell after the Reds had been embarrassed by Spurs at Wembley in a 4-1 loss.

The corresponding fixture to this weekend was also a comfortable 3-0 win. However the Reds were in second gear for most of the game and were not as dominant in January.

There is no doubt that Wagner wants to prove himself to his former boss and mentor. Do you like losing to your friends? No you hate it. In some ways it’s worse than losing to your enemies because you have to see them more often and get phone calls and texts reminding you of the loss.

This is a prime chance for Wagner with a home game after an international break to show his friend that he can compete as a manager in the league.
