Ezri Konsa

Could Ezri Konsa be the new Gomez? In a way, he already is – just at a lower level. Brentford picked up the defender from Charlton (where Gomez started) for just £2.57 million.

Konsa is also versatile, and has already played as a right-back, central defender and a defensive midfielder.

The 21-year-old has missed just 180 minutes of league football for the Bees this season as he has made a flawless transition from League One to Championship football.

Brentford pulled off a bit of a coup by signing Konsa, who had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The defender was part of England U20 World Cup winning squad, and with a full season in the Championship to aid his development, would be a good addition to Liverpool’s defensive stocks.

Former manager Karl Robinson claimed Konsa was the best young defender in the country, while praising his ability on the ball and defensive prowess.
