Eberechi Eze

It seems remarkable that Steve McClaren is still allowed to manage football teams after his disastrous spells with Newcastle United and Derby County, but he’s doing quiet well with Eberechi Eze.

Eze has been compared to Adel Taarabt in that he’s prepared to do mad things on the field and has the ability to actually pull them off – although hopefully he doesn’t share Taarabt’s mentality.

The 20-year-old has had to graft for his taste of first team football, especially after being released by Millwall after failing to make the grade with Fulham and Reading.

But here he is doing good things with Queens Park Rangers. Eze is listening and learning off the field and ghosting past his marker on it, earning comparisons with Raheem Sterling as well. Honestly, just watch the video below and you’ll see what pure technical ability the youngster has – especially the bit on 25 seconds in which Eze scores a crispy volley with his right foot.

Liverpool always have an eye out for a talented domestic player, and changes the FA have proposed for a post-Brexit world will make that even more important.

Three goals and two assists this season aren’t amazing numbers, but Eze has been trusted with over 1,300 minutes of football and it’s clear that his club rate him highly.
