No.1 – Klopp Pride

No one would have enjoyed the draw against Bayern Munich more than Jurgen Klopp. So long his chief adversary when he was manager of Borussia Dortmund, the chance to face them again must be salivating for the manager.

The German media follows everything Klopp does at Liverpool closely and all of Liverpool’s results and progress and reported on frequently back in the manager’s homeland.

Klopp’s career is a point of pride for German football fans and the boss will be keen to maintain his reputation back home.

If Liverpool had been drawn with a club like Porto there is the possibility that the league concerns would have caused this game to slip a little in priority and focus. There is no chance of that happening with Bayern.

This side is always well prepared and tactically astute under Klopp but playing unfamiliar teams in Europe can provide a shock. There will be no shock here for Liverpool against a side that Klopp knows well and has beaten many times before.
