Liverpool host Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 knockout stage on Tuesday. Here are 5 reasons the Reds will dominate the Bavarians.

European nights at Anfield are back after  the winter break as Liverpool welcome Bayern Munich to Anfield on Tuesday evening in the Champions League knock-out stage first leg.

A lot has happened since Liverpool last played in this competition. They overtook Man City in the league, racking up a 7 point advantage and then drew a couple and fell back to level on points with a game in hand.

The Reds were also knocked out of the FA Cup and have been on two(!) warm weather trips; one to Dubai and last week in Marbella.

It is strange that this game isn’t the absolute focus of the season. Usually Liverpool fans are looking for some European glory as respite from disappointing league results. But if anything there is more attention on Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford that is a huge hurdle in the Premier League title race for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

While the fans may be looking beyond Tuesday night, I can assure you that Klopp is not. Last season’s excellent Champions League run help set up this season’s successes and was crucial in luring Alisson Becker and Fabinho to the club last summer.

It is imperative the Liverpool progress in this competition to maintain the progress the club has made in the past few years. We want to be one of those teams who is always in the quarters or semis of this competition; it’s where we belong.

Here are five reasons that Liverpool will dominate Bayern Munich tomorrow night and secure a crucial first leg victory.
