No.4 – High Reds, Low Bayern

A draw against Bayern Munich in any other season would cause more waves of panic than we have seen this year. Much of this has to do with the current standing of both clubs.

Liverpool are flying high at the top of the Premier League table, putting together historic points totals and only losing one league game all year.

Bayern Munich on the other hand are in a down year. Their usual domination of Bundesliga has not occurred, they are behind Borussia Dortmund who have a game in hand on them.

This Munich is in transition. The old guard of Robben, Ribery, Muller and Lewandowski are all past their prime and the young talent of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry have not yet reached their potential.

James Rodriguez is an expensive band aid and has not been able to single handedly transform the fortunes of this Bayern side in transition.

This will not be an easy tie but Bayern’s fans were paranoid about drawing Liverpool for a reason. They know we are the better team. One on the up, and one ready to make a bad season worse for the Bavarians.
