Football Manager stories: Will Joao Felix bring the magic to Liverpool?
Season four
I’m done with this. Completely dead. Transfers are such a big part of the game, but the Football Manager AI just can’t seem to get them right.
In season four of this experiment, Liverpool signed Kasper Dolberg from Bayern Munich for £50 million after he made 18 appearances in four season, scoring just seven goals. Klopp also brought in Vincent Janssen for £15.75 million, gave him eight Premier League starts and then transfer listed the striker. Behave!
But maybe I’m also slightly annoyed because Felix isn’t getting the game time he deserves. 24 starts across all competitions isn’t that bad, and the Portugal starlet is improving, but he needs more than eight Premier League starts.
The attacking midfielder’s numbers were up too – with five assists and two goals from 17 league appearances and an average rating of 7.02.
We just need season five to be the year he properly breaks through – and I think it’s going to happen.
The team had a decent season though, and picked up two trophies while making it to the semi-final of the League Cup. Liverpool won the Euorpa League with a 1-0 extra time result against AC Milan as Ben Woodburn struck home to claim the prize! Felix didn’t play.
They also swooped for the FA Cup, beating West Ham in extra time with a Felix goal and an 8.1 performance. Woodburn also scored in that one, while Salah got the other.
