Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has made front page headlines in Spain because of a transfer rumour linking him with Real Madrid.

MARCA is going to run the news, which says that new Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane wants to sign Reds star Mane in the summer.

This is just another in the long line of Liverpool transfer rumours that have popped up over the last few weeks and it’s not the first time one of Jurgen Klopp’s lads has been linked with a move to the Spanish capitol.

Alberto Moreno is wanted in La Liga and will leave Anfield at the end of the season on a free transfer, which is a habit the club really need to cut out.

Emre Can ran down his deal and joined Juventus for nothing at the start of the 2018/2019 campaign and now Moreno will do the same, most likely going back to continental Europe.

Michael Edwards might be a genius at extracting maximum value from sales, but when he’s let two players (who are in the prime of his career) leave for nothing it’s not a good look.m

MARCA didn’t mention a fee on their front page, but Mane is now valued at £76.5 million and any bid deemed good enough by Klopp and Liverpool would surely have to meet or exceed what Barcelona paid for Phillipe Coutinho.

With 17 Premier League goals and two assists, the Senegal international is having the season of his life and is in with a good chance of winning the Golden Boot at the end of the campaign.

The Reds still haven’t replaced Coutinho, not properly, and if the owners have any serious ambition of challenging for the league over a number of years they cannot allow Mane to leave.

They can’t allow any of the big players to leave, actually, and any departure could be an opening of the flood gates for ‘bigger’ sides to pick off the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
