This is Liverpool in Europe. It’s what we do. It’s who we are. We march around the continent winning games and picking up trophies. Wednesday night will be no different.

Under Jurgen Klopp the Reds have been sensational in European competition. Three campaigns, three finals. One trophy. Yet to lose a knockout tie. The record is excellent and this is the best the team has been since the manager arrived.

Liverpool also have history in this specific showpiece final; they have won it three times including the last two occasions: Against Bayern Munich in 2001 under Gerard Houllier and CSKA Moscow in 2005 under Rafa Benitez.

Chelsea on the other hand have only won this trophy once – back in 1998 as the Cup Winner’s Cup holders beating Real Madrid. They have lost both finals in recent years – being thrashed 4-1 by Atletico Madrid in 2012 and losing on penalties to Bayern Munich in 2013.

Every smart gambler will have their money on Liverpool in this matchup in this context. They are favorites to win and there is plenty of evidence it maybe a huge victory…
