Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged a fan massive response to the Salzburg invasion on Wednesday night.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League game, the German called on Reds to create a bouncing atmosphere inside Anfield.

“Tomorrow night they have to feel that we are Liverpool, that they are in Liverpool, that they are in Anfield!,” cried Klopp.

And that means it’s up to the supporters to create the type of atmosphere that they’ve become famous for, the type of atmosphere that gives the lads a boost and an advantage before they’ve even kicked a ball and the type of atmosphere that inspires them to put three points on the board.

Salzburg will be feeling good. They beat Genk 6-2 in the first game of the group, they’re flying high in the Austrian Bundesliga and they just confirmed that top scorer and 19-year-old sensation Erling Haaland will be fit.

On top of that, the Red Bull unit will have many other threats up their sleeve as head coach Jesse Marsch has created a side that looks to play the same way as Liverpool.

After losing 2-0 to Napoli in Italy last week, Klopp is desperate to earn that first win as the manager looks to defend his Champions League title.

Joel Matip, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri have all been ruled out of the game, which should allow Joe Gomez to the chance to come back into the side for a rare appearance.

Matip picked up a knock in the nail biting 1-0 win against Sheffield United and isn’t even certain to recover for Leicester City this weekend. The defender’s absence will come as a blow as he’s been in fine form this year – leading pundits to claim Matip is more important to the side than Virgil van Dijk.

Gomez will need to hit the ground running if he’s going to stop Salzburg’s attack – and Klopp wants the whole stadium roaring him and the boys on.
