Jurgen Klopp will now have to make a tough decision on how to bring in to the side. James Milner might be the most obvious, defensively minded swap – but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain changed the complexion of the game on Wednesday and deserves to be included.

That would push Jordan Henderson or Georginio Wijnaldum into a more conservative role. Neither are tailor made for that, but have done it at varying times under Klopp. Adam Lallana is another option and replaced Fabinho at Aston Villa.

Brighton are currently 12th in the league with four wins, three draws and six losses. Summer signing Neal Muapay is their leading goalscorer with four, while Pascal Groß can be a threat from midfield.

The last two games have come down to fine margins with Liverpool winning two 1-0 games. Back in January it took a Mohamed Salah goal to break the deadlock. That game featured Xherdan Shaqiri on the right wing and Fabinho in central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Shaqiri is unlikely to feature while Dejan Lovren should retain his place next to van Dijk. This should be a routine win.
