Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp picked Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana to start against Everton. Here’s how they did in the second half.

After the breathless first half that saw six goals, two for Origi and one for Shaqiri, the final 45 was never going to be played at the same pace.

Despite Liverpool getting the ball forward and Everton trying to haul themselves back into the game, scored remained level while Lallana and the two forwards tried to make the case for their continued involvement in the side.

Have a look below to see how the three surprise starters did as Liverpool strolled towards an easy Merseyside Derby win.

Divock Origi

The Belgian benefited from the open style of the first half but things seemed to tighten up for Everton after they emerged from the break. Origi has less of an all-round game than Roberto Firmino but proved his first with two excellent finishes, but when there isn’t much services Origi quietens down and that’s what happened here.

With five goals during this fixture, Origi played his socks off and was replaced after 71 minutes by Firmino.

Xherdan Shaqiri

The same could be said of Swiss international Shaqiri, who sparkled in patches during his first half but found life a little bit more difficult as the game slowed down. Shaq was able to showcase his ability from dead-ball situations with a couple of well taken corners and free kicks.

Shaqiri often kept his width on the right-hand side and allowed Trent Alexander-Arnold to drift inside and displayed some excellent one touch combinations with Georginio Wijnaldum.

Adam Lallana

Lallana didn’t see too much of the ball but still managed to have an influence on the match with his work rate. The former Southampton man is an excellent technician and displayed that with a number of nice touches and darting runs into the box.

There wasn’t anything obvious to catch they eye but it was a functional performance that will have pleased Klopp. Lallana was subbed after 71 minutes for Jordan Henderson.
