Liverpool 4-0 Leicester: Four things we learned – Mohamed Salah is a beast
Henderson’s passing is underrated
Alexander-Arnold normally gets the plaudits for his passing range but Henderson matched him on Thursday as he sprayed inviting, attacking balls across the park like Andrea Pirlo reborn.
The thing is, Trent played so well that Henderson’s contribution will probably continue to be overlooked. If that knock he picked up forces the skipper to miss the next game it’s likely that we’ll start to notice a difference because Henderson was the main driving force during the first 45.
There are players on the park who can do similar but no midfielder in the squad does it like Jordan Henderson. Keita is more of a dribbler, Wijnaldum has a shorter passing range and Lallana doesn’t play enough.
Aside from Fabinho, the England international is the least droppable midfielder and during the first half against Leicester we saw why. People who call him a sideways merchant don’t want Henderson play because this guy continues to be underrated and that’s fine with me.
He doesn’t get goals and assists very often but that metric is misleading, especially when you judge this team. The full-backs often deliver the final blow but it’s Henderson that gets them in a position to do so and that’s even more important.
