Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has started scoring goals again and has revealed why.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has hit the back of the net three times this Premier League season, but has two in his last two as he’s been afforded an excellent run in the side.

Fabinho’s injury has allowed the former Arsenal man to embed himself alongside Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum in the engine room, and make his importance to Jurgen Klopp known.

Such is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s form that the gaffer even picked him ahead of Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi as the left-sided forward against Southampton.

"And the Mirror has revealed what has been making the Ox tick in recent times. “We’ve got Mo, Sadio, Bobby and they set the example for anyone that wants to learn how to score goals. I get to watch them a lot and try to follow situations and put yourself in the position to score.”"

Sadly, much of that watching came during an awful spell in the sidelines following a knee injury, but Oxlade-Chamberlain has been reintegrated into the first team and he’s played the last five Premier League games in a row. That will help anyone find their form and fitness.

And that’s important, because Naby Keita is coming back from injury and Adam Lallana has recovered from the virus that kept him away from three games. There is no room for complacency in this side.

When he’s at his best, Oxlade-Chamberlain brings a very different goal threat to the one Liverpool already has. His goal against the Saints was a beautiful case in point as he drilled home from outside the area.

The Ox is great at doing that, and when he plays it means Liverpool aren’t reduced to spreading the ball wide and crossing it back in. Teams will think twice before dropping off their man, all because Oxlade-Chamberlain gets to watch Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in training.
