Champions League action resumes this week with the knockout stages starting and Liverpool take on Atletico Madrid.

The first leg will take place on Wednesday as the Wanda Metropolitano, the very ground where Jordan Henderson lifted the European Cup eight-and-a-half months back.

Liverpool have been in sensational form this season, losing just two matches across all competitions so far. The same can’t be said for Atleti whose only chance of winning any trophy seems to be the Champions League as the La Liga seems out of their reach.

Liverpool look the favorites but Diego Simeone‘s side can never be written off, especially not when they are playing at home as they are yet to lose a single home knockout fixture in the Champions League at the Metropolitano under the Argentine.

Now, let’s take a look at the team Jurgen Klopp could field on Wednesday.

Alisson

The Brazilian put in a fine performance against Norwich City last weekend and kept his tenth clean sheet of the Premier League this season. Alisson went without conceding a goal in Liverpool’s Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg and will be needed to do the same this week when they take on Atletico Madrid in their own backyard.

Most teams in the La Liga have scored more than Los Rojiblancos but you never know when their attackers could be a menace. The one player Alisson would have to be wary of is Alvaro Morata as the Spaniard has often done well in important matches.

The 27-year-old will be needed to be at his very best if he is to keep his 13th clean sheet of the season.
