Defense

Trent Alexander-Arnold. 9. . Man of the Match.

Alexander Arnold was on fire today. He had 19 crosses go into the West Ham area. Nineteen! That’s incredible. Sure, he was only accurate on five of those nineteen but a lot of that has to do with his teammates not being in the right spot or making the right runs. With two assists on the night, we saw today that when his mates are in the right spot or making the right runs that Alexander-Arnolds deliveries are spot on.

5. . . . Virgil Van Dijk

It wasn’t a great day for Van Dijk either. Yes, he made seven clearances and held an 89.8 percent passer rating on the night. But on the Fornals goal, Van Dijk was slow to commit to the ball coming into the box and his man had enough space to unleash a shot that beat Alisson.

5. . . . Joe Gomez

He was the man margin Issa Diop on the corner where he converted his goal. Gomez didn’t do enough to harras the strong West Ham defender. With five areal duals won over the course of the match, one more could have saved everyone a little heartache.

7. . . . Andrew Robertson

The full-backs were in fine form against West Ham today. Robbo put in eleven crosses in last night’s match. He also had six key passes on the night, a team-high he shared with Trent Alexander-Arnold. He also picked up the assists on Salah’s equalizing goal that squeaked passed Lukas Fabianski inexplicably.
