Liverpool fans on Reddit are having none of the Reds performance against Watford on Saturday.

Dejan Lovren wasn’t very good, but it wasn’t all his fault. Virgil van Dijk didn’t have a great game. The entire midfield could have done with a Jordan Henderson rocket up their arse. It just all went wrong.

Ever since the enforced break sapped momentum straight out of Liverpool’s campaign, this defeat has been on the cards. Beating West Ham by the skin of our teeth was a warning shot across Premier League bows, the loss at Atletico Madrid was dismissed too easily.

But now all the chickens have come home to roost with this awful, dreadful loss agains the Hornets.

Adam Lallana nearly gave the Reds a route back into things but his shot hit the post and there would be no more Barcelona comeback, no more quickly taken corners and no more Divock Origi to make the most of a confused defence.

As Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah struggled to get into the game there wouldn’t even be a goal for the away fans to celebrate. ‘Stale, stagnant, predictable.’

Reddit user Yadude11 got it spot on when discussing the game in the post-match forum.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gifting Watford a third was the epitome of this. He’s young, he’ll keep growing in the game and he’ll learn from this.

And the defeat certainly won’t stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League this season, but it is another warning shot after a poor end to the winter break.

dark. Next. Three reasons why Liverpool can still win the Champions League

The fact that this one, lone defeat matters so much shows how far Jurgen Klopp has been able to take this side. In many ways, in defeat we learn more about this side than in victory – and we certainly learn more about what people think about us.

But Liverpool need to shift this stale approach other the final moments of the campaign will be a lot less fun than the first.
