Liverpool play Aston Villa on Sunday.

The lads in Red return to Anfield as Premier League champions for the first time in a very, very long time.

To put this in a bit of context, the last time Liverpool took to the pitch at the home grounds as Champions of English football, Jurgen Klopp was 23 and had just signed his first pro contract with Mainz 05.

Nursing bleeding and bruised wounds (and egos) from a sound 4-0 jaw dropping thrashing at the hands of league rivals Manchester City on Thursday last, Klopp’s men will be looking to take another three points from Villa in pursuit of more records.

They will be looking to keep a perfect Anfield record intact for this campaign.

And they will be looking to fire up the engine room to provide clinical finishing in the final third, (something sorely lacking v City) and find their form in the defensive end.

Their defense was carved up like the Christmas goose by a City side clicking on all cylinders.

The last time Liverpool were so soundly destroyed in this fashion was Sept. 2017 at the Etihad.

I would not relish Aston Villa’s task today. Would you want to be coming to Anfield of all places, to take on a wounded and angry beast; that are completely capable of overwhelming, and punishing demolition of significantly lesser sides? Particularly at Anfield.

Crystal Palace were the last victims of the Reds wrath after having drawn a point away to the Toffies in the derby.

So look for Klopp and Liverpool to be on point on the morrow. Here is how we see things shaping up on Klopp’s team sheet.

Anything less than a victory and a clean sheet here for the Reds must surely be chalked up as a loss. If Liverpool play the sort of football Klopp will most certainly be looking for, and we all well know their capable of, Aston Villa will be hard pressed to just keep hold of their shirt tails. Up the Reds!!
