Liverpool are different with Roberto Firmino

Other fans don’t understand Firmino, and to not understand Firmino is to not understand Liverpool.

You can try to criticise him for not scoring enough goals, but that would be to underestimate the role he plays within the structures of Klopp’s side.

Bobby was used more as a traditional forward last season and the season before that, but this campaign he’s been used as a playmaker/striker hybrid.

While it’s true that he does miss chances, we saw just how much Liverpool need Firmino by the way the structure of the side changed following his arrival on the field. In some ways, solving this problem moving forward will be one of Klopp’s great challenges.

This is a phenomenal team but it does operate as a team. There are few egos but Klopp has created something that needs all its parts ticking to get results.

Klopp won’t be able to come to any solutions in the transfer market this season, and perhaps Timo Werner has a man who could have done that. The arrival of Takumi Minamino should help in the long-term, but he’s not up to speed just yet.

For now we need the Brazilian to play as much as possible, but that’s not good for his body in the long run. It’s an issue that needs to be fixed.
