Neco Williams

Trent Alexander-Arnold has featured heavily in every match since lockdown – you could sense a bit of tiredness on his part on the south coast.

So a man who featured on the opposite flank that night – Welshman Neco Williams – will get an opportunity on his favoured right side.

He looked perky and energetic but always at risk – which is probably why Jurgen Klopp pulled him at half time. He also picked up a yellow card.

But in a game on his favoured side against a team who defend deep? We back Neco.

Virgil van Dijk

The Dutchman was once again elegant last time out, with Neal Maupay and Aaron Connolly having next to nothing to work with.

Next he faces the different test of Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood – physicality is again another of Virgil’s strengths. He will excel.

Joe Gomez

Gomez and Van Dijk are starting to look like the partnership once again for Liverpool after periods of inconsistency and injury from the ex-Charlton man’s side.

He has been on an upwards trajectory since his performance against City, and will hopefully continue this at Anfield.

Andy Robertson

An assist for Andy Robertson on Wednesday will have done him the world of good – he had a rough patch.

Two pretty dismal performances against Man City and Aston Villa saw the Scot dropped for Neco Williams.

He returned to the field at half-time and looked back to his best – especially when Sadio Mane was occupying the left hand side.
