Destination Liverpool must ignore insane financial landscape.

Liverpool are once again a destination club. Not a pass through to a bigger payday deal somewhere else.

There was a time when players spent their entire football careers with one side. But loyalty to a cause and a team was abrogated by the lure of huge piles of cash. Buying and selling players at hugely inflated rates, sent any thoughts of loyalty to a team packing.

Aaron Ramsey signed a deal with Juventus for a reported £400k per week after 11 seasons with Arsenal. Now Ramsey is a good talented footballer to be sure, but seriously folks. This is absolutely absurd.

And the player lotto continues unabated. Neymar continually wants a return to Barca to collect on another huge payday. But he hasn’t played that much in his past two seasons at PSG.

Paul Pogba drags down a huge salary at United, yet he hasn’t played all that much in the past two campaigns either.

Let me say it here and now, this transfer situation with inflated escalating salaries is not these players fault. They are just cashing in on a system that has completely lost the plot. But Liverpool are resisting that.

This club are fighting clever. They may have a large wage-bill, but there are few earning completely mental salaries and transfer spending is tightly controlled to make sure it all falls within a proper budget.

Which is why Liverpool will resist the urge to go back for Philippe Coutinho, and all the problems that would come with that.

It is the system that must change, sadly however, there is little hope of that.

£400k per week to play football, indeed any game or sport is patently insane. We can’t pay teachers and nurses a living wage! So what’s wrong with this picture?
