The agent of Liverpool target Victor Osimhen is desperate.

While it’s true that Napoli are moving closer to a deal for the Lille forward, Victor Osimhen has spoken to the Reds and his representatives want him to go to Anfield.

Calcio Napoli 24 interviewed journalist Ciro Venerato, who said that the Naples outfit are the only side who’ve had a bid accepted. However, certain ‘promises’ have been made in relation to Liverpool and Osimhen and the footballer is waiting for those to become reality.

"He said: “There are doubts and certainties about the Osimhen operation. Napoli have an agreement with Lille but there are still things to solve, we are 80%.“The agent has been talking to Liverpool for days and is trying to turn the promises made to the player into reality.”"

Could Venerato be talking about the reported contract offer? According to sources, Reds sporting director Michael Edwards has offered the Nigerian terms – even though Napoli have conducted a medical.

This has been corroborated by Corriere Dello Sport, who say that the Naples side are the most likely to land the man but Osimhen’s agent has complicated matters.

We can see that the deal is being lead by the player’s agent, who is perhaps sniffing out a larger deal for his client.

Corriere Dello Sport said the Nigerian would be on a large wage, plus bonuses, over the course of four years.

Either in the week, news broke that Liverpool had offered a bumper deal to Osimhen. Are these the terms that his agent is chasing, or have Napoli committed more to the player? These are questions we don’t have the answer to, yet.

This story feels like the result of a lot of agent’s posturing, which will result in a brief flurry of interest and news articles before Osimhen moves to Napoli.

Certainly, Liverpool don’t appear to have the financial might to offer this sort of money around. If they did, would the deal for Timo Werner not have been completed?

Stand by for more on this developing saga. The fat lady hasn’t sung on this one yet, not until he’s signed, sealed and delivered.
