Liverpool have been linked with Aissa Mandi, Jamal Lewis and Ismaila Sarr this week.
The Reds were interested in Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi, but now West Ham and Fenerbahce have expressed interest as well.
At a £30m valuation, Mandi certainly won’t come cheap and the Reds have been rumored to be attempting to get the wantaway defender for far less, with future considerations to be involved.
Some have expressed that this could result in a bidding war for the defenders signature. But I strongly disagree. Mandi most certainly will want a move that is a step up, and not a lateral transfer, which is what a move to West Ham would be.
A move to Fenerbahce would be seen as a step down – not likely for this talented Algerian international.
The Jamal Lewis bit of business is still under consideration according to recent reports, but the sides are still some way apart.
Apparently Michael Edwards has soured on the Lloyd Kelly deal with Bournemouth, after negotiations broke down earlier this week.
Harry Wilson is wanted by at least three Premier League sides. For my mind Wilson, at just 23, is more valuable in a Liverpool jersey than as a potential rival that could hurt us down the road.
To consider a sale of Harry to a rival team could come back to haunt Liverpool. It’s understood that the club need funds this summer to acquire the Mandi deal, for example, but doing so at the risk of future problems from such a sale of Wilson just doesn’t make much sense.
There has been some interest from Edwards and the Reds of late in Ismaila Sarr from Watford. The Senegalese international is already an accomplished attacker at 22 and the Hornets may decide to cash in after their relegation from the Premier League.
With Sadio Mane whispering in his ear, the Reds should have the inside track here.
