Liverpool might not sell Sheyi Ojo to Huddersfield Town after all.
Neil Jones of Goal had reported that the Terriers were interested in bringing in the youngster, either on loan or permanently, but new sources have emerged that contradict that claim.
As well as Huddersfield, Jones also wrote that Nottingham Forrest and Reading are considering Sheyi Ojo as he looks for a new club following the conclusion of his spell at Rangers.
He scored one goal and assisted five in 19 Scottish Premier League games, but it doesn’t appear as if there’s an appetite to sign him on a permanent deal.
Huddersfield are feeling similarly disinterested, said Steven Chicken for Examiner Live. The quantity of forward options means a move for Ojo doesn’t make sense, wrote Chicken.
The time has come for Liverpool to sort out a permanent move for the one-time England U21 international. He’s already 23-years-old and has been on five separate loans to Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Reims and Rangers.
With a value of £1.44 million, according to Transfermarkt, sporting director Michael Edwards won’t be able to get much money for the forward but it will give him a chance to make a home for himself.
Rangers seemed to be that side and Ojo’s loan spell there was the most productive of his career in terms of games played, goals scored and assists.
There are similarities between Ojo and Ryan Kent, who flounced between a number of loan deals before securing a permanent move to ‘Gers following a successful season-long loan.
In other Liverpool transfer news, we’ve had a rare day without any gossip about the future of Thiago Alcantara, although there have been whispers about the future of Marko Grujic.
The Bundesliga looks like it might be a possible destination for the Serbian, who has impressed in Germany over the past couple of seasons.
